NYSADC Accepting Applications for Dental Fellowship to Address Oral Health Disparities
Applications are open for the NYSADC Fellowship to Address Oral Health Disparities! The fellowship is open to dental school graduates with at least one year of post-degree training, and is designed to increase the number of dentists with the skills to serve patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The fellowship provides financial support and clinical training for one year, after which fellows will commit to serving in a setting that serves a significant special needs patient population.
NYU College of Dentistry Performs First Dental Student-Led Robot-Assisted Dental Implant Surgery
Third-year dental students at NYU Dentistry became the first predoctoral dental students in the U.S. to perform robot-assisted dental implant surgery, under the supervision of Dr. Huzefa Talib and Dr. Thomas Wiedemann, faculty members in the College’s Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. While faculty and postdoctoral students at the College have completed approximately 150 dental implant cases since acquiring the Yomi robotic technology last year, this surgery marks the first time that dental students led the procedure from start to finish. Read more.

Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College Hosts 5th Annual Give Kids a Smile Event
On April 12, Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) hosted its 5th Annual Give Kids A Smile event. Students from the Classes of 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 partnered with TCDM faculty and staff, and local volunteer dentists from the Ninth District to provide free dental screenings, oral health education, and other assorted fun activities for families from the Lower Hudson Valley in Touro Dental Health’s state-of-the-art clinic. Read more.

NYU College of Dentistry: Applications Being Accepted for NYU Dentistry “Bridging the Gap” Associateship
New York University College of Dentistry Department of Pediatric Dentistry has established a one year Bridging the Gap (BTG) Associateship focused specifically on oral health care for persons with disabilities and complex health conditions (PWDCMC) open to pediatric and general dentists. This non-GME funded, four-day a week position is supported through a HRSA Postdoctoral Training Grant (D88HP37550) and offers salary and full benefits. The purpose of the BTG Associateship is to create a sustainable primary care dental workforce that is equipped and empowered to increase the quality, acceptability, and timeliness of oral health care services for PWDCMC. Read more.

Eastman Institute For Oral Health, University of Rochester: Dr. Sean McLaren Named EIOH’s New Chief Quality, Compliance and Safety Officer
Sean McLaren, D.D.S., M.B.A. (GPR ’03, Pedo ’06, MS ’19, MBA ’22) has been named Eastman Institute for Oral Health’s Chief Quality, Compliance and Safety officer and the director of the Office of Quality Improvement and Compliance. He succeeds David Levy, D.M.D. (Pedo ’77, MS ‘81), who will transition to a part-time faculty position and manage special projects. Read more.
