Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College Expands Enrollment Seats
In March 2023, Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) received approval from the Commission on Dental Accreditation to increase enrollment. The increase in seats will add 100 students per class, bringing the total number of students in new classes to 210, and help the school educate more dentists to address current national shortages. Read more.

Eastman Institute For Oral Health, University of Rochester Graduates 77 Specialists from 30 Countries
Thirty different countries were represented among the Eastman Institute for Oral Health’s 77 graduates who crossed the stage Friday evening at a ceremony held in the University’s Feldman Ballroom. “You have all played a valuable role in helping address the many challenges Covid left behind,” Eli Eliav, DMD, PhD, EIOH director and professor told the graduates. Read more.
Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College’s Pre-Dental Experience Takes Students on a Journey Through Dentistry
“It’s like kindergarten,” Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) faculty member Dr. Golda Erdfarb explained over a loudspeaker to several dozen university students. “Stay in the lines.” However, instead of crayons, the students were using high-speed electric dental drills and the lines were shapes on a learn-a-prep tablet intended to mimic the enamel properties of teeth. Read more.

NYU College of Dentistry: The IADR Honors NYU Dentistry’s Dr. Habib Benzian and Dr. Richard Niederman for Achievements in Global Oral Health
The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) honored Habib Benzian, DDS, MScDPH, PhD, and Richard Niederman, DMD, with awards for their achievements in global oral health, presented during the opening ceremonies of the 101st General Session of the IADR that took place on June 21, 2023, in Bogotá, Colombia. Dr. Benzian, research professor of epidemiology and health promotion and co-director of the NYU Dentistry World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Quality Improvement and Evidence-based Dentistry, is the recipient of the IADR Distinguished Scientist John Greenspan Global Oral Health Research Award. Read more.

NYU College of Dentistry: Inaugural Dental Hygiene Continuing Education Program for Japanese Dentists and Dental Hygienists Debuts at NYU Dentistry
The NYU Dentistry Dept. of Dental Hygiene & Dental Assisting hosted a two-day inaugural continuing education program for 20 Japanese dentists and dental hygienists on June 8 and 9, 2023. Initially, the program was intended for dental hygienists, but interested dentists also participated. The program theme was “Evidence-based Techniques, Strategies, and Technology Currently Used in Preventive Dentistry.” Read more.
