Committee on Diversity and Inclusion

The New York State Academic Dental Centers (NYSADC) Committee on Diversity and Inclusion is comprised of the Diversity Deans of New York State’s six dental schools. The committee charge is to focus on some of the primary issues facing dental education today: the lack of diversity within the student population, as well as among the faculty; the shortage (or maldistribution) of dentists which creates access issues for people in underserved areas; and the high cost of dental education and the correlation between student debt and the determination of whether to enter a specialty vs practicing general dentistry or entering academic dentistry—thus compounding the access issue.
